Brett Ormerod

Former Southampton and Blackpool striker Brett Ormerod finally hung up his boots in 2016 after a spell playing in non-league football with Bamber Bridge.

Considered a legend by the Blackpool fans, Ormerod is the only player to have scored in all four divisions for the club.

After Ormerod had announced his retirement he was approached by the Blackpool owners who offered to host his testimonial for free at Bloomfield Road.

Ormerod turned down the offer due to the ‘toxic environment’ surrounding the club at the time as he didn’t want all of the negativity around the club to spoil the day.

He opted to use AFC Fylde’s new Mill Farm stadium for his testimonial game instead which was a huge success.

Since retiring from playing, Ormerod has been working in the media as a co-commentator for BBC Radio Lancashire Sport covering teams playing in the north-west.
